I love the way the light dances across this Cy Twombly inspired piece from my Shades of Grey collection.
I never sell a painting I wouldn’t love to hang in my own home… picture in point! I’m celebrated for my love of colour and was challenged during Covid to embrace a colour I “hated”. I chose grey and also graffiti which has always annoyed me. But, I found beauty there. Like stormy clouds or a murky day, if we change our focus, if we look for magic, if we select to see life through rose-tinted awareness that which was painful or solemn becomes joyful.
Abstract genius Lee Krasner once said that she hated painting yellow. She tried to paint yellow but it would never come and always became another colour. Perhaps it was the gloom and chaos and conflict of living under the shadow of the alcoholic painter Jackson Pollock. I’m the opposite, yellow always sneaks into my paintings no matter how much I try to resist.
